It’s already March, and things are rolling along non-stop here in my studio!

2010 was a busy year with numerous shows and exhibits, some nice awards, and several trips that garnered great new reference material.

I continued to participate in the shows where I’ve exhibited for some years, including a handful of outdoor shows.  January saw me in Denver for the National Western Stock Show, and in early March I once again travelled to Tulsa, OK, to exhibit at NatureWorks.  It’s a beautiful show with a great tradition built over the years, and it was fun to join some of the best wildlife/nature artists in the country.  It had been roughly 15 years since I’d been in the show last, so it was a real treat to participate again.  I’m happy to have been invited back to Tulsa in this year.

After a full schedule of summer shows, I opted to take September and October for some much-anticipated travelling.  I’ve been dating a wonderful fellow since August, ‘09, and September found Rick and me in Sedona, Grand Canyon NP and then home through Santa Fe.  Hundreds of photos and great memories came home with me.  Later that month I went back to Douglas, WY to meet my friend, Lyndon, and drove with her to Livingston, MT.  We both have friends there, and I spent several days with Al and Mary Agnew.  It was a great visit and my first chance to see Yellowstone.  And grizzlies!! More photos.  Lots more.  In October I rode with friends Earl and Sandy to Jackson Hole, WY for a few days at their wonderful condo in Teton Village.  Another first for me—seeing the Tetons.  And there were more photos, of course, along with another great time.

Once home, I managed to sort through the photos and get them all organized and safely off the computer before it became clear there would be a new computer in my very near future.  Most of the transition to the new Operating System has been pretty easy, but getting this website uploaded proved to be much more difficult than I’d expected.

Now that we’re well into 2011, I’m trying hard to focus on new paintings.  There is so much exciting new reference material, it’s hard to choose a subject!  Recently, I have begun to include animals and wildlife in some of the landscape paintings—more incidentally than when I focused on the bird or mammal as the primary subject.

I continue to show my work in several lovely galleries—I hope you’ll check the Gallery Affiliations page and will stop by to visit any of them if you are in one of those areas. My show schedule is filling up, and locations and dates are continuing to be updated on the Upcoming Exhibits page.

For the first time in roughly 25 years, I will not be coming back to Missouri for a show this year.  It was 1986 when I first made the trip to Washington, MO, for the May Fine Art Fair and Winefest, so my choice to not travel back for any show in 2011 was a hard decision and I will miss seeing many of you who have become good friends over the years, as well as old friends from my years living there!  I hope you will continue to check the website to see the new work, and I would love to hear from you.  I’ll miss the ’catching up’ that we did when I was in the Midwest for those exhibits over the years.

I plan to update the Artist’s Note page periodically in 2011—hopefully with a bit more current news and perhaps some photos.  With fewer opportunities to visit with some of you at shows, I hope we’ll ’visit’ occasionally online!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   Becky
